review:
This book should be on a list on Essential Reading for The Human Race! The author was in a unique position to record the hidden voices of her fellow country women. It is a fascinating up close and personal glimpse at the lives of a diverse selection of Chinese women. It makes for astonishing, heartbreakingly painful and also very insightful reading. I think these Chinese women's stories are relevant to women worldwide. I was horrified at the extent of violence (particularly sexual) that the women who spoke out were subjected to. I got so much out of this book. I particularly enjoyed The University Students look at life.
